You're Allowed to Give Yourself a Break
You’re used to telling yourself a lot of negative things to help you progress forward, but these days it feels less and less productive. Maybe you feel frazzled, anxious, or isolated, but still feel an overwhelming pressure to do more, give more, be better.
That can be a vicious cycle that’s hard to escape. But what would it be like to treat yourself with the same compassion and generosity that you readily share with others?
Therapy can be a place to give yourself and your brain a break from the negative chatter.
Hi, I'm Sarah Kate
I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor here in Blacksburg. As a therapist I work with people who may:
identify as a Type A personality, have trouble balancing the multiple roles in their lives, and worry about not meeting expectations
have a hard time saying no because asserting themselves might damage their relationships
be struggling to cope after loss or during a major life transition
have a stressful relationship with food, and/or their body
have experienced gender-based violence such as sexual assault, sexual harassment, or bullying
My mission is to help you find relief from what worries you.
We do that by beginning to explore and accept your wonderfully complex, imperfect, authentic, human self. After working together, my hope is that you’ll be able to:
Say what you really think, without worrying about your relationships disappearing
Celebrate your accomplishments, and feel productive and successful at work and at home
Be at peace with food, and with your body
Like yourself a little bit more – if not a lot more!
